BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
Union Minister of State for Education Dr. Sukanta Majumdar on Monday alleged that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is conspiring to intimidate BJP workers and supporters attending Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s ‘Parivartan Yatra’ rally in Mathurapur. He claimed that those participating in the event are being threatened with cancellation of government benefits under schemes such as Yuva Sathi and Lakshmir Bhandar.
Sharing a screenshot of an alleged WhatsApp chat on social media platform X, Majumdar described the purported move as “anti-social, vile, and driven by a revengeful mindset.” He alleged that instructions were issued to local booth-level leaders to identify BJP supporters attending the rally and mark them for future targeting, creating what he termed an atmosphere of fear in rural areas.
According to the minister, such threats amount to political vendetta aimed at stifling democratic rights. He said the alleged attempt to deprive individuals of government scheme benefits reflects a climate of intimidation at the grassroots level. Majumdar urged that all evidence related to the matter be preserved and called upon the people of Bengal to respond to what he termed “condemnable political revenge.”
The allegations come as the BJP’s ‘Parivartan Yatra’ gathers momentum across the state. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to flag off the yatra in Mathurapur on Monday, amid heightened political tensions in the region.
